Introduction & Biography for David Paehlke
I was born December 29, 1967 in Glencoe Minnesota. I was raised in the nearby small town of Brownton. I graduated from Brownton High School in 1986. I entered Moorehead State University in 1986 where I began my study to become an Elementary Education Teacher. In 1987 I transferred to Mankato State University where I completed my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with a Coaching certificate in 1992. I began my career as a substitute teacher, full time, for three years at nine different school districts. After not receiving a full time teaching position I became a counselor for boys ages 5-12 at a 24/7 group home who had emotional and behavioral issues due to past abuse and neglect. I went on to become a Corporate Trainer for Hutchinson Technology Incorporated but was laid off in 2000. Due to the layoff, my wife Kim and I were given the opportunity to move to Lindstrom Minnesota and manage Lakeshore Terrace Retirement Estates, a manufactured home park that her parents own. During this time I was able to go back to school and receive my MCSE through Microsoft. Upon completion of my MCSE I received a job with a small company where I was a PC Technician. I was able to work my way up to Supervisor within a year and a half. In 2004, with the downfall of technology and smaller companies, I was laid off again. Within a month I was hired to teach Computer Repair and Networking at my current employer Northeast Metro 916 School District in White Bear Lake Minnesota. During this time I was also able to earn my CCNA certificate along with my Career and Tech teaching license. As I said earlier my wife’s name is Kim. We have been married since 1994. We have one son named Kaleb who was born on August 31, 1995 and one daughter name Kaley who was born on January 5, 2005. We are still managing the retirement park in Lindstrom Minnesota. I enjoy spending time with my family and helping coach the sports Kaleb is in. I am a ten year volunteer firefighter, an outdoors enthusiast, and like working out by running and lifting weights. My goal is to obtain my Masters in Information and Communication Technologies.
